SNP achieve more in two years than Labour have in 74

As campaigning gets underway in the Glasgow North East by-election, SNP candidate David Kerr said that the SNP had achieved more in 2 years in power than Labour had in 74.

Mr Kerr said: "Labour have let the people of Glasgow North East down for over seven decades.

"They've failed Glasgow's children by closing schools, slashing teacher numbers and increasing class sizes - and now Glasgow North East is at the bottom of the educational attainment tables.

"They've failed to tackle knife crime - coming up with a half-baked policy which the Strathclyde's top police officer says is unworkable.

"They've failed Glasgow's poorest people by putting up their taxes while bankers walk away with billions.

"And now they are proposing to balance their budget by axing 3000 council workers before they cut back wasteful council spending.

"Contrast this with the SNP who have done more for Glasgow in two years than Labour has in 74.

"Despite a budget cut by London Labour, we've frozen council tax and cut prescription charges - putting more money in the pockets of hardworking Scottish families.

"We've invested in Glasgow's infrastructure improving roads and extending access to free bus travel, and - with our upcoming investment in Fastlink - joining up Glasgow so people can get around.

"We've put in place tough justice policies and they're working - bringing crime down in Glasgow North East and giving our young people opportunities for the future.

"We've removed business rates for small businesses and local shops with our small business bonus - keeping them open during Labour's recession.

"And as Alex Salmond announced in his conference speech on Saturday, we're investing over £820m in a new hospital for Glasgow so local people get the state of the art health services they deserve.

"Unlike Labour, the SNP will never put prestige projects before people. We will put investment, the NHS, education and community safety first. We've got what it takes to our community thrive."
