Curran exposed in Newsnight debate - MSP doesn't know where MP worked
SNP Depute Leader Nicola Sturgeon today said Margaret Curran had been exposed as she revealed she did not know where former MP David Marshall's office was as John Mason emerged the clear winner in tonight's TV debate.
"For an MSP not to know where the local MP is based just shows how little attention Margaret Curran has paid to the issues affecting many of her constituents.
"It's no wonder the major issues in this constituency - benefits policy, tax credits, the impact of the 10 pence tax, fuel costs and the possibility of post office closures are news to her and to Labour - it seems there has been no communication between the MSP and MP in this constituency for years.
"Margaret Curran has spent the last eight years representing part of this constituency at Holyrood yet on devolved issues of knife crime and anti-social behaviour she failed to take any responsibility passing the blame to her Labour party colleagues in the council and to Strathclyde Police - a police service making real progress in tackling crime and community safety.
"In contrast John Mason was clear on the issues and clearly understood what mattered to people in the East End - from the impacts of knife crime and air guns to the importance of tackling rising fuel costs.
"Margaret Curran only served to show how out of touch Labour are with the East End and that it is the SNP on the side off Glasgow East."
