Commenting after tonight's STV debate for the Glasgow East by-election the SNP candidate Cllr John Mason said the Labour candidate had let down the East End on major issues of importance to the area.
In the course of the debate she:
- Admitted that she failed to give any public representation on the abolition of the 10p tax rate
- Refused to back a fuel duty regulator which would stabilise the cost of fuel in the East End
- Failed to back extra police officers just as she did in the Scottish Parliament
- Continued to support the unfair Council Tax which went up 60% under Labour
Commenting Cllr John Mason said: "In one fell swoop the Labour candidate has shown how out of touch with the East End of Glasgow Labour has become.
"People in the East End want a representative who will speak out and support the people on these issues. They are of vital importance for the people of the East End. I pledge to do that.
"The fact is that voting SNP works. On opposing the abolition of the 10p tax rate, on reducing fuel tax, on delivering extra police officers for Glasgow, and on scrapping the Council Tax.
"This by-election offers the people of Glasgow East the opportunity to send a message to Labour that they want action on these important issues and not more of the same neglect.
"I will be that representative and a victory for the SNP will send a strong message to the Labour Government in London."
