The SNP campaign in Glasgow East today received backing from Scottish actor James Cosmo and comedienne, actress and Glasgow East constituent Elaine C Smith.
The two stars joined the SNP's Candidate John Mason for a walkabout at shopping centres in the constituency.
Speaking at the event the two gave endorsements to John Mason's campaign and urged people in Glasgow East to use the by-election to send a message to Gordon Brown's government by sending an SNP MP to Westminster.
Endorsing John Mason actor James Cosmo said: "The election of John Mason on Thursday will send a message from Glasgow East to the UK Government that it's time for action on the rising cost of living, on energy, fuel and food prices.
"The SNP's victory in 2007 brought a new confidence to Scotland, a victory on Thursday will bring that same new confidence to Glasgow East."
Joining the walkabout Elaine C Smith said: "The SNP winning last year was like a breath of fresh air for Scotland.
"The country knew it had made the right decision. A victory for SNP on 24 July will mean the same for Glasgow East.
"This election won't change the government, but an SNP victory will make sure Labour can never take the people of Glasgow for granted again."
