Invisible Labour ministers make secret visits to Glasgow East
Tuesday, 15 July 2008

"Too embarrassed to associate with failing campaign"

Commenting on reports today (Tuesday) that Labour Cabinet Ministers have visited the Glasgow East constituency during the present by-election but have failed to advertise their visits SNP Westminster leader and party Business Convener Angus Robertson MP said: "First Labour are so short of activists they are ordering MPs from outwith Scotland to prop up their campaign, now they are too embarrassed to let anyone see them.

"This is a Labour party and a Labour candidate so embarrassed by its own Government it doesn't want anyone in Glasgow East to know they are here.

"Labour are playing hide and seek with the voters.

"People in Glasgow East have the right to expect answers from the Labour party on the policies that are causing them so much financial pain.  If Harriet Harman and Des Browne can turn up where are Alastair Darling or Gordon Brown.

"Instead of being straight with the voters Labour Ministers are engaged in under cover operations, sneaking in and out when they should be facing up to the public.

"In contrast members of the SNP from Cabinet Secretaries to activists are volunteering to work in the constituency on and off camera.

"This by-election is a chance for people in Glasgow east to send a message that they are not happy with the policies from this Labour government. Only a vote for the SNP can send that message.

"Labour MPs will continue to put Gordon Brown before Glasgow, an SNP MP will put Glasgow East first."
