Curran must be straight with the East End - misleads voters on day one
Tuesday, 08 July 2008
SNP MSP Sandra White has today called on Margaret Curran to be straight with people in Glasgow East after Labour's candidate claimed to have lived in the East End all her life.

Margaret Curran is known to have lived in the Southside of Glasgow for several years.

Ms White also said it was time Margaret Curran was straight with people in the East End.

"Labour are so out of touch it seems Ms Curran doesn't even know where the East End is.

"For Margaret Curran to claim on national television that she has lived in the East End all her life is to mislead voters in a crucial by-election contest on only her first day. "Labour's campaign so far has been an utter shambles – now it is also misleading.

"Margaret Curran must set the record straight.

"While she's at it –its time she told people in Glasgow East exactly what she means to do with her job as an MSP.  Instead of hedging her bets against the disappearance of her current constituency Margaret Curran should show some more respect to the voters and tell them her real intentions."

Note:

At the delayed launch of Labour's by-election campaign 5th choice candidate Margaret Curran said:

"I have worked in the East End all my life, I have lived in the East End all my life"

When asked if or when she would resign from the Scottish Parliament she said;

"That will be resolved in the short term. I think..."
