The Scottish National Party seized on remarks by Scotland Office Minister David Cairns on BBC Good Morning Scotland today about the Glasgow East by-election, in which he said that "we don't have one-party states in perpetuity".
SNP Depute Leader and Deputy First Minister Ms Nicola Sturgeon MSP said: "Labour have had it all their own way in the east end of Glasgow for half a century – they are out of touch, and David Cairns' panicky remarks show that it is time for a change.
"The ground is shifting under Labour's feet in Glasgow East, and under their failing campaign.
"The Sunday Times' account of Labour's shambolic campaign has clearly upset David Cairns.
"The by-election is a two horse race – the SNP are on the people's side, and only the SNP offer a positive alternative to Labour's failed record in Glasgow East."
